The former historic Avon distribution warehouse on Pasadena’s East Foothill Boulevard has been transformed into a large state-of-the-art 113,850 square foot Home Depot. According to Home Depot representatives the store has several features the company is rolling out as part of its multi-year, $11 billion investment to enhance the customer and associate experience.
It features an optimized, more flexible checkout and customer service area, specialty showroom, the latest displays and amazing new storage areas for our customers’ ‘Buy Online Pickup In Store orders’, which have become more popular over the course of the pandemic.
The new store has 300 employees, including just over 200 associates who are new to the company. “With more and more customers buying online, we needed more space to stage orders and better support the increased demand,” a company spokesperson. “We took advantage of underutilized space to create more storage solutions behind the return/service area. This allows us to simplify the order process and reduce pickup times for customers. We also have introduced self-service lockers for customers to pick up their online orders.”
The retailer has paid for new raised medians along Foothill Boulevard, which prevents cut-through traffic and protects the neighborhood to the north. They also installed a new driveway and traffic signal, with Walnut Street and Sunnyslope Avenue to serve as the main entrance. Additionally they have upgraded traffic signals to improve flow on Foothilll and Walnut.
