The Return of An Icon
The Georgian Hotel has been the jewel of Santa Monica since 1933. The historic building is an eight story skyscraper designed in the Art Deco style, and upon opening it was the playground of Hollywood greats like Marilyn Monroe and Clark Gable. This iconic hotel has been tastefully restored, paying homage to the Art Deco period it was built, and continues to bask in the spotlight.
This terrace restaurant at the front of the charming landmark Georgian Hotel is an ideal hang out for an ocean view breakfast, a casual lunch or sunset viewing at dusk – eclectic all day menu and cocktails.
With its bright turquoise exterior, striped awnings, and pastels that are quintessential to Art Deco architecture, the building looks like something straight out of a Wes Anderson film. Located just a few blocks north of the iconic Santa Monica Pier, the location is prime at the bustling waterfront. But up until very recently, there wasn’t much reason to actually venture inside. After a series of owners and a stint as a retirement home, the interior had lost much of its original charm.
In 2020 BLVD Hospitality, known for bringing the Ace Hotel and Soho House’s Soho Warehouse to Downtown L.A, purchased the landmark property. With the help of the design firm Fettle, the new owners spent two years painstakingly refurbishing the hotel’s 84 guest rooms (including 28 suites), two open-to-the-public restaurants, dining terraces, art gallery, library, and lobby bar.
