OSH CLOSING THEIR DOORS NATIONWIDE
It was announced on Wednesday, August 23rd, that Lowe’s will close all Orchard Supply Hardware stores nationwide by Feb. 1, 2019. They immediately started liquidating their nationwide stores only just the next day on Thursday, with sale prices 10%-30% off. They will continue to further liquidate at lower prices as their going-out-of-business sales continue.
OSH, has 99 locations in California, Oregon and Florida, as well as distribution centers, all of which will close. The move comes five years after Lowe’s bought most OSH stores out of bankruptcy following an ill-fated spinoff from the chain’s former owner, Sears Holdings Corp.
“While it was a necessary business decision to exit Orchard Supply Hardware, decisions that impact our people are never easy,” Lowe’s president and CEO Marvin Ellison said in a statement. “We will be providing outplacement services for impacted associates, and they will be given priority status if they choose to apply for other Lowe’s positions.”
All 99 stores are currently liquidating their inventory nationwide, until all retail is sold.
