AMAZON FRESH STORE CURRENTLY UNDER CONSTRUCTION IN PASADENA
The construction is underway for a new Amazon Fresh grocery store at the location of the former OSH Hardware store on East Colorado Boulevard. The grand opening date is unknown at this time, but below is information on the permits as well as some info on other Amazon Fresh stores that are already open.
PROJECT PROPOSAL: Conditional Use Permit: To allow the off-site sales of a full line of
alcoholic beverages (beer, wine and distilled spirits), as well as
instructional tastings on-site (Type 21 and Type 86 ABC Licenses), in
conjunction with the operation of a new, 41,459 square-foot grocery
store (Food Sales land use).
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The proposed establishment would offer a range of typical grocery offerings, in addition to specialty items and related services. The store’s offerings will include fresh produce, prepackaged meats, packaged foods, dairy products, salad bar and hot food offerings. As discussed
in this report, it is proposed that the grocery store would sell a broad selection of beer, wine, and
spirits, including craft and specialty products. The sales of alcohol requires the approval of a
Conditional Use Permit.
Amazon Fresh started off as a grocery delivery service which is currently available in most major U.S. cities, as well as many other countries. In 2020, Amazon Fresh opened several physical store locations in the US. The first six stores opened in Los Angeles with three additional locations in Chicago.

What is Order Ahead?
You can request Order Ahead items from the deli, meat, and seafood counters as well as whole pizzas via the Amazon app when you arrive in store, or even on the way there. You can shop while your Order Ahead items are being prepared, and then be notified when your items are ready for pickup at the service counter so you don’t need to wait in line.
What is Amazon Dash Cart?
The new Amazon Dash Cart is a smart shopping cart that makes a quick grocery trip even quicker by allowing you to skip the checkout line. Sign in to the cart using a QR code on your Amazon app, place your bags in the cart, shop, and when you’re done, exit through the store’s Dash Cart lane. The cart uses a combination of computer vision algorithms and sensor fusion to identify items put into the cart.
